Frequently Asked Questions

Just a few great, useful, and shiny things.

Monadnock Martial Arts

If you're interested in self defense, encouraging discipline in your children, or just getting a great workout, consider Monadnock Martial Arts and Fitness in Jaffrey, 45 Knight St. They don't require a fancy year-long contract... and their children's program rocks!

Flaming Maple Herb Company

If you're interested in herbalism, handmade soup, or lovely lotions, check out Flaming Maple Herbs.

LEGO Flower

Have you ever wandered onto a web site that, in one brief shining moment, made you want to be a kid again? Imagine a world where LEGO pieces work seemlessly with your kids' own creations. I'm imagining historical dioramas and enthusiastic "book response projects." Just add LEGOs, cardstock, and a hole punch...

Lies Homeschooling Moms Believe

Lies Homeschooling Moms Believe, by Todd Wilson of Family Man Ministries, is an amazing book that speaks to the heart of every homeschooling mom. From our tendancy to compare our weaknesses with others' strengths to the myth of the perfect "cover" family, this book is filled with heartfelt truths--I can't recommend it highly enough!

Study Carrels

A handy solution for distractible students? The study carrel! They're easy to make out of simple cardboard, however I'm thinking of attaching a few mini bulletin- or white-boards together for next year...

Wall Files

One of the two simple solutions that rescued my school area from total chaos was the use of wall files. They're not expensive and basically shift your piles to a vertical, as opposed to horizontal, format. These make ideal "In" boxes and "To Do" piles.

Study Carrels

The second awesome organizational tool I've fallen in love with is book racks! They're also called binder racks. Either way, they allow you to stand a line of school books up on your counter or shelf... and then pull one out without causing an avalanche.
