 If you're from out of town and want to make a day of it, Peterborough has a wonderful playground (with pool in the summer). Downtown Peterborough also boasts an international museum, handmade chocolates and ice cream by Ava Marie, and the oldest tax supported public library in the world. In Depot Square, you will find a great diner, an enchanting bookstore, with an integrated cafe, and a local movie theater. On Wednesday afternoons, 3-6pm, from late May through October, there's also a lovely Farmer's Market. In Peterborough you'll also find Miller State Park, a beautiful "dam" swimming spot, and miles of gorgeous, flat walking trails (free maps are available at the Chamber of Commerce).
