Here are some useful "current-but-not-quite-as-current" events of note. Enjoy!
- Consider a retreat at Camp Maranatha!
- On Thursday the 14th, HB 368 was voted inexpedient to legislate...by an almost 10 to 1 margin. We're not sure exactly what happened, but it was definately an act of God. HSLDA has a nice follow-up article, and there's even a You Tube video in case you missed the "fun"!
- Are you looking for a fun way to get your kids outside and moving? Consider forming a family Walk New Hampshire team. As a team you need to walk 190 miles (the height of NH), and each individual member needs to walk at least 30 miles... indoors, outdoors, treadmill, track, with the dog--any walking counts. When you're done, send them a postcard and get a nice certificate and a patch. We're walking... are you?
- I'm gettin' healthy. There, I've admitted it! Several of you have asked what I've been doing and for my "snack mix" recipes. At somepoint I'll write up a "Fitness for the Rest of Us" page with the general lifestyle information I've discovered, but for now you'll have to settle for a couple of wonderful snack mixes. One is savory, one is sweet, and they're both perfect for healthy snacking. They've got fiber to fill you up, fruit and nuts for nutrients, and protein for long-term satisfaction. (If you live in the Peterborough area, try Ocean State Job Lots for inexpensive dried fruit and nuts. Otherwise, Coll's Farm Stand seems to be the best deal.)
