Vermont Raptor Museum - Good! no weird science. 15. Acadia National Park - Beautiful! 16. America's Stonehenge - bad! Questionable history and expensive. 17. Ben and Jerry's - Delicious! 18. Van Trapps - Good. 19. Teddy Bear Factory - Good! 20. Cabot Cheese - Good! 21. Charmingfare Farm - Good! 22. Letterboxing - ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC!!! This is a wonderful way to get to know parks, historic sites, and places of beauty in our area. It is sort of like a treasure hunt. You get the info off their website and then follow their directions to the box. You bring with you a notebook, rubber stamp (for your family - ours is a dragonfly), and an ink pad - a compass is a good idea too. You use their stamp to mark your book and then use your stamp to mark their book. It is nice to put a little note in their book ie. 'great letterbox', 'beautiful location', 'love your stamp', etc... Most of the people who put the letterboxes out there tell you if the hike is difficult or easy. Most are easy and therefore great for families. If you go please check out our letterbox on Pitcher Mt. Don't be afraid to customize your family vacation around several field trips. One family went to Gettysburg, Colonial Williamsburg and several other locations for a family vacation. (They loved Gettysburg and Williamsburg. They suggested that if you go to Gettysburg you pay ($40 fee plus tip) a park ranger to give you the tour, it is well worth it.
