One big concern of new homeschoolers is " Socialization"... Do homeschoolers spend all of their time at home? Nope! Our children are involved in activities with other students, with homeschool groups<, and with community members of all ages. Below are some of our favorite ways to get involved:

To quote from their web site, “Awana has always been and always will be first and foremost about helping the local church get the life-changing gospel message of our Lord Jesus Christ out into the community.” Locally, kids can enjoy AWANA clubs at several area churches, including Jaffrey Bible Church, Sturtevant Chapel, and Good News Bible Church. It's a wonderful opportunity to play games, earn awards, make friends, and learn. Is there a better way to spend an evening?

"The mission of Community Bible Study is to make disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ in our communities through caring, in-depth Bible study, available to all." The Monadnock Region of New Hampshire is blessed with a Community Bible Study class as well as a Teen CBS class. The day class is filled with a variety of women from many different backgrounds, and has a full children's program through junior high. The teen class is amazing with dinner, small groups, a teen worship band, and fresh homemade cookies. Community Bible Study is a great way to get involved in the community.

"The Peterborough Town Library, established 1833, is the oldest public library in the world." Our town library is wonderful. The staff is helpful, the programs are interesting, and the "inter-library-loan" process is painless. We even have an online catalog and new downloadable audio books! The children's section is welcoming and well run, but a word to the wise: it is not separate from the rest of the library and is, in fact, not far from an open stairwell. If your toddler's a darter, be forewarned. This is wonderful library for leisurely visits on rainy days... check it out!

"Christian Home Educators of New Hampshire works to network Christian homeschoolers. They host spring homeschool conventions, run fall family retreats, notify members of political happenings, and work to encourage families across New Hampshire. Well worth the membership!

"The Home School Legal Defense Association works to network homeschoolers on the national level. They provide legal representation, support homeschooling widows, and lobby for homeschool and parental rights. We love reading their Court Report magazine each month... It keeps us from taking our freedom for granted!
